ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING
Benefits of Attending A Virtual Campus
Flexible Schedules - Online degree programs are designed to fit around your schedule, not the other way around. Your courses will be held completely online, with your instructor there to give you the necessary course information, including the required textbooks, syllabus and coursework. Most online courses are held in a ‘virtual classroom’ and students can log on to complete the coursework and exams at any time before the due date.
Self-Paced - Online degree programs give you the opportunity to learn at your own pace. If you need extra time to reread an assignment or study more on a certain subject, you have the option to do that with an online degree program, as long as you can complete the work before the deadline.
Ability to Work or Care for Family - Online degree programs allow you to complete your coursework when you have time. That means you can hold a full-time job or care for your family and still pursue your degree.
Do you travel a lot for your job? An online degree program gives you the option to do your work on the plane or at the hotel. Do you have children? You can complete your work while they’re at school or napping. Online degrees fit around your needs, not the other way around.
Drawbacks of Online Degree Programs
No Face-to-Face Interaction – Online degree programs are held entirely on the internet. You won’t see your fellow students face to face. You can still interact with other students, but chances are you won’t form the same friendships you would if you attended classes in a physical classroom.
No Immediate Clarification – With online degree programs, you won’t have the benefit of asking your instructor a question in real time. Instead, you’ll have to send your instructor a question and wait for the response. This could come hours or days later, long after you’ve finished studying the material. This increases the possibility that you won’t fully understand the material you’re studying.
Lack of a Set Schedule –Online degrees are designed to fit around your schedule. However, if you don’t effectively self-manage, you run the risk of falling behind on your coursework. This procrastination can lead to you frantically pulling ‘all-nighters’ to finish your coursework before its due.
