Accreditation
Mayfield College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education to award Certificates and Diplomas. The Council on Occupational Education is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Mayfield College is also approved by California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.

Mayfield College’s Computer Support Technician program is based on the guidelines as set by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and Microsoft©. Students can take their certification exams at Virtual University Enterprises (VUE) testing centers or Authorized Prometric Testing Centers (APTC) throughout the state.

Program Descriptions:

COMPUTER SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

In 2002, the Information Technology Association of America projected that hiring managers expected 1.1 million technology job openings for that year, and that these managers would not be able to fill almost 600,000 of these jobs due to a shortage in qualified workers.

The Computer Support Technician program prepares students for careers in the IT industry, ranging from upgrading computer systems to developing wide area and local area network capabilities. This highly technical program involves classroom theory, hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, and on-the-job training with a local company through our externship program.

Additional curriculum topics include network operating systems and network systems design and implementation. This program helps our graduates begin careers in a variety of exciting positions in various fields involving IT and computer network systems. These may include such positions as a network administrator, WAN specialist, web server administrator, Linux specialist or network technician.

If you're a problem solver, a troubleshooter and a good communicator, Computer Support Technician is an area you might like to pursue.

MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE

Medical Billing and Coding, Front Office is one of the fastest growing opportunities in the healthcare industry. Mayfield College’s Medical Front Office program encompasses several all-inclusive courses to prepare students to assume leadership roles in a variety of healthcare settings.

The curriculum includes instruction on the following:

• Medical Terminology
• Insurance Claims Preparation and Processing
• Medical Law & Ethics
• Medical Billing and Coding
• On-the-job Training Through an Externship With a Local Company

Upon graduation, you will be positioned to gain an exciting position in the healthcare management field, working in a hospital, medical or dental office, long-term care facility, or clinic.

FREE GED PREPARATION

Caring for our community is a fundamental value at Mayfield College. We have a rich legacy of sharing our educational resources and breakthrough teaching methods with our community through our Free GED Preparation Program. While a GED is not required to enroll at Mayfield College, we offer Free GED Preparation programs because we believe that possessing a GED is key to building self confidence and high self esteem.

Possessing a GED certificate often translates into a better job, higher pay and more meaningful opportunities overall for those who did not or could not complete high school. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, individuals with a GED realize a 35% increase in median annual earnings over those without it.
