Are you thinking about going to Business School? You will probably have an assortment of reasons for choosing to go back to school. These days, some of the more popular reasons for going to business school are to change careers or stay competitive in a rough job market.
Figures from the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), an international organization of business schools, show that 77% of full-time programs have reported higher demand for places last year. That number is expected to be the highest ever this year.
Get Answers before Picking a MBA program:
- What are the backgrounds/qualifications of the faculty?
- What is the student-to-faculty ratio? How accessible are faculty members?
- What percentage of applicants is accepted?
- What kinds of financial aid are available?
- What is an average class load? How long does it usually take to graduate?
- Are there any support mechanisms for people with family responsibilities?
- What job placement resources are available?
Keep in mind that in good times, your biggest problem will be to decide which job offer to accept after graduation. In recessionary times such as what the nation is facing now, employers can be pretty discriminating, requiring someone with past experience in the industry. As a result, your success at changing careers may hinge on the state of the economy, even if you do have an MBA.
